The Mirror series is named lovingly after Briar – Bec’s late mother. She remembers her as graceful and magnetic and she remains an important influence in her life and work. The mirror series acknowledges her mother’s demeanour and is a celebration of sophisticated femininity. The design employs both high-tech and low-tech methodologies, giving it modern, yet handcrafted appeal. The bead-like wood-turned form is taken from the Agathis floor lamp and the Phila table lamp, yet scaled down to delicate proportions.

Snelling Studio

Born from collaboration between father and daughter Douglas and Bec Snelling in 2007, Snelling is an Aotearoa New Zealand studio working across lighting, furniture, sculpture and object collections. Today led by Rebecca Snelling the practice carries forward a deep commitment to honest making and material integrity. Every piece is handcrafted and made to order within the studio, produced alongside a specialised team of makers and fabricators in New Zealand. Rooted in fine aft training and over two decades of practice, the work sits between sculptural form and functional object shaped by sustained material research, traditional craft methodologies, and refined execution. Snelling values longevity over trend, permanence over production.
