The crescendo of the Hour Collection is without a doubt Cloak – a sculptural, multipurpose piece of furniture that introduces a bold presence to the collection. Inspired by a traditional Maori cloak or Korowai, a traditional garment made from natural materials symbolising ancestry, the designer envisaged this work to symbolise homecoming and identity. Its enveloping form recalls the soft drape of fabric, yet in solid material it becomes architectural, anchoring atmospheres with both intimacy and structure. Cloak is crafted from Sapele Mahogany and chrome.

Snelling Studio

Born from collaboration between father and daughter Douglas and Bec Snelling in 2007, Snelling is an Aotearoa New Zealand studio working across lighting, furniture, sculpture and object collections. Today led by Rebecca Snelling the practice carries forward a deep commitment to honest making and material integrity. Every piece is handcrafted and made to order within the studio, produced alongside a specialised team of makers and fabricators in New Zealand. Rooted in fine aft training and over two decades of practice, the work sits between sculptural form and functional object shaped by sustained material research, traditional craft methodologies, and refined execution. Snelling values longevity over trend, permanence over production.
