Iconic ‘Namoradeira’ armchair by José Zanine Caldas, Brazil, 1970s. Zanine Caldas was entirely self-taught — born in Caravelas, Bahia, he began as a carpenter before becoming the defining voice of ecological design in Brazil. From the 1960s onwards, he used timber reclaimed from deforestation to create monumental, organic furniture pieces. A rare and significant work of Brazilian modernist design.

Galerie Boketto

Galerie Boketto is a Paris-based gallery operating at the intersection of collectible design and contemporary art. Rooted in over 15 years of private collecting and grounded in the curatorial culture of the city, the gallery positions design as a structural cultural practice, with spaces in Paris, Porto, and Warsaw. At the foundation of the gallery’s programme is a deep commitment to mid-century design, with a focus on Brazilian and European post-war practice — a body of work that has long shaped Boketto’s eye and continues to inform its curatorial language. Anchored by figures such as José Zanine Caldas, this historical core is enriched by monumental European voices including Gae Aulenti, Tommaso Barbi, Poul Kjærholm, Mario Bellini, and more.
